Author. Educator. Poet. Artist. Tasha Jones is making her way to the top with books, Silent Killer, which includes Magic Johnson and Hydeia Broadbent, Coffee Thoughts, which landed her a spot on the legendary Showtime at the Apollo stage and viewed by Russell Simmons of Def Poetry, and the most recent, You don't know the Half, the Liberation of L.B.Jones which proves her tenacity to empower, educate, and uplift readers. Her works embody a refreshing soulful warmth that is much needed and solely missed. Her words bring the wisdom of "grandmas bones" and ride vibrations to places that forces each and every reader/listener to move toward action. Hey Tasha. I recently just met you a couple of months ago when you and a few of your students did a performance for Community Action of Greater Indianapolis. I really enjoyed watching and listening to you and the young authors. I would like to become more involved and expand my writing style and technique. Please email me and let me know of some events and/or some more of your performances. Thank you very much.

I am writing to recommend Tasha Jones for Poet Laureate in Indpls.
Tasha is courageous. She is the talker who truly walks the walk....She is true to her art; she bares her soul and then shares it effortlessly so that others can learn.
For two years Tasha worked with teen youth enrolled in the Youth and the Arts summer theatre camp (2004 & 2005). As camp director I observed Tasha's interaction with the youth, and with the female participants in particular. I noticed that her teaching style or model was aimed at bringing out each student's natural talent for writing stories and scripts for stage presentations. She was honest and genuine with the youth. One youth was very challenged as a result of brain surgeries. Tasha identified his artistry in drawing and graphics. Rather than insist that he write a script or play a character, she allowed him to create the cover page for the final production play bill. Tasha was creative and successful in helping the camp participants experience 'what success and a job well done' feels like.
She moves her art of writing and poetry in the direction of helping young people. She has made a difference in the lives of youth who have been left to 'fend' for themselves in environments that are frequently harsh, cruel and unloving.
It is my hope that Tasha Jones will be able to continue the positive influence she has on young people in Indianapolis and throughout the nation as well.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Pressley-DeMar, MSW cynthia.demar@gmail.com
