here is a haiku for you!
Happy New Year
Bullet loses wind Comes down in head of young man Unhappy New Year
Saych: I'm gonna call you about the food 'cause I was meaning to do that anyway. As for the haiku.... It is a deep & heavy thought that I hope didn't really happen to anyone (??), but it's not quite a haiku. I have found that some very short poems can really make an impacting statement. Even SIAM has a few in Rain of Grace. I would structure the piece this way and leave it alone; it's a powerful statement!
Happy New Year Bullet loses wind Comes down in head Of young man Unhappy New Year
By the way, a haiku is a Japanese zen style of poetry consisting of three lines. The first line is five syllables long and makes a statement. The second has seven syllables and expounds on the first line. The third has five syllables and restates the first line in different words. I know it's hard to limit some ideas to this rigid structure, but I've been writing them sinc 5th grade when I first learned what they are. Poets today also take creative license by linking them together. That's my technical piece. ;-)
why, hello! do you remember me from the Casba poetry reading back in Nov.? :)
Yes Laura; I remember you. You looked so different with you hair in a ponytail than your glam shot on your website. Thanks for posting my photo there too. SIAM and I will be at the Vocab in February; he will be the Featured Poet. So, see ya there?
Make sure to pick up Indy.com The Magazine tomorrow and check out page 47. Tuesday's Best Bet is for Vocab at Casba. :)
