Obama's Speech

So, Obama addressed a joint session of Congress this evening. All in all, I thought it was considerably better than his inaugural speech. Hearing the litany of details and plans to pull us out of our national nosedive was somewhat comforting.

As for the stimulus plan, the devil is in the details, the proof is in the pudding, and several other cliches. Us unemployed typed are getting a $25 raise! That’s exactly enough to buy a half gallon of Beam. Coincidence? I think not. Thank you, Mr. President, for addressing my concerns.

So, what did the rest of you think of the speech? What do you think of the stimulus plan? What do you think of what Michele was wearing?

Stimulus plan is a bunch of crap…if you are paying your mortgage you get no discount and no pat on the back. But here is what you do get: that neighbor, you know the one that doesn’t mow their grass and has a brand new car, you get to help pay for him to have lower rates since they haven’t been paying all these months or years. Rewarding bad behavior…one of the dumbest things America can do, because it makes those that do work hard to pay bills, feel like they might as well give up, and take their hand out as well.

America was sold ‘hope’…well I ‘hope’ you kept the receipt.

Obama don’t have the answers, the Republicans don’t either….we need to re-engineer the whole country…ground up. It would take a long time, but if we took a serious look at almost every process we have in America and try to fix things one at a time, in about 8 years we could be thriving. Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians all need to put difference asides….quit worrying about trying to legalize or ban gay marriages and get to the root of these problems. I don’t think handouts, to those that deserve it least, are the answer.

We gotta start paying China back or they will reprocess America….or start breaking our collective fingers. Ninjas don’t mess around dude!

China has little choice but to continue to underwrite our debt. Their growth is dependent on US exports. They’re at such a fragile point with their populous, pins and needles, they need to sustain growth or face possible uprising. As far as dependence on US exports goes, all the Asians can be lumped in: S. Koreans, Japanese, and so on. They build, we buy. If we are the buyers, we need credit.. I’m not sweating the Chinese. We are at a point of complete symbiosis.

In regards to the GOP… It must be nice to sit back and hedge your bets on the probabilities that the Stimulus will not be enough to help rebound a “global” issue (the real difference between now and the 30’s). But let’s face it, as politics goes, it’s the only bet they can make where they MIGHT be able to come out saying “We win, you lose”. Unfortunately, they are still playing politics in the most crucial moment in modern history. It’s so painfully apparent too. It’s appalling.

To the main point, will it work? Who the f*ck knows? This type of scenario has never existed in the history of modern mankind. The one thing for sure, to do nothing was guaranteed, world wide disaster. I’ve personally spoke with a congressman about the stimulus, which he voted against, but the comedy is that he freely admitted he and all the others really had no clue what to do.

Bubbles burst. Now it effects the entire world. The quality of leadership on a global scale has to be raised to new heights or else. I don’t know if Obama’s plan will work (on top of the merits of his own plan, there are other variables at play that he does not control) but I sure as hell sleep better at night knowing that Mr. McCain is not in charge of our program and being the person that leans on foreign leaders to get their business in order. It’s the ultimate “relationship sales” position and America did itself a favor this time.
