Jazz music is the theme on Saturday, August 29th at White River State Park as part of the Family Arts Series. Electric violinist Cathy Morris will bring her signature sound and dynamic presentation to the stage while also playing host to a showcase of Indianapolis Jazz talent throughout the evening. Contemporary, fusion, Latin and classic jazz standards are all part of the program. The free, family-friendly performance begins at 7:00 p.m. and is located in Celebration Amphitheater.

Featured performers include Everette Greene, Marvin Chandler, Rob Dixon, Cynthia Layne, Peter Kienle, Bill Lancton, Pavel Palanco Sadifit, Omar Ruiz Oliver, Leo Reis, Richard Brendan and dancer Carol Tharp Perrin along with some of Indy’s best rhythm players.

Come early at 5:30 p.m. to take part in Bongo Boy Music School’s Drumming Circle in Celebration Plaza. All ages and talent levels are welcome and no experience is necessary. Drums will be provided by Bongo Boy Music School and Remo.

Families can bring a picnic, purchase food from M&M foods or try Italian Ice from Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice. Easley Winery will also be present at Jazz in the Park selling wine by the glass and bottle.

The Family Arts Series is made possible by the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation and the Lilly Endowment, Inc.

Bring the whole family, blankets and picnic baskets to the outdoor Celebration Amphitheater at White River State Park. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site. Celebration Amphitheater is handicap accessible. For more information and the rain date location, visit www.INwhiteriver.com or call 317-233-2434.
