Cabaret Poe is looking to cast dancers and actors who can sing well for their October run in Irvington (10 minutes east of downtown Indy).

Cabaret Poe is a brand new musical event featuring the masterful works of Edgar Allan Poe with new music and additional material by Ben Asaykwee.
MistahQue Artistry did a preview of selections from the show in Chicago at Looptopia 2008 (an international all-night arts celebration) to wide acclaim.

Rehearsals will be throughout September with tech being the last week of the month. The show opens Oct. 2nd (after a few nights of previews) and will run the entire month of October (mostly on weekends with a few exceptions). All performers will be paid (don’t expect to win the lottery).

Roles being cast and preparations requested:

Berenice
20s – 40s
Please bring a 2-3 minute monologue and 32 bars of a song. Both should be as “macabre in nature” as possible. (meaning: make it about death, dying, murder, or such things as these… and you’ll be safe)
For callbacks, be prepared to do some cold reading (brush up on Poe) and some light improv.

Morella (casting for understudy with promised performances)
20s – 40s
Should have Shakespeare experience or comparable
Please bring a 2-3 minute monologue and 32 bars of a song. Both should be as “macabre in nature” as possible. (meaning: make it about death, dying, murder, or such things as these… and you’ll be safe)
For callbacks, be prepared to do some cold reading (you will be asked to do sections of THE RAVEN) and some light improv.

The Shadows – dance roles.
2 dancers needed
ages 16 – ?
training and experience in modern, musical theatre, and ballet (no point) preferred.

The roles of “the Shadows” are macabre manifestations of death, murder, or mental anguish. Dancers must be able to convey these emotions (among others) through movement.
