In conjunction with the exhibit "Radical Lace & Subversive Knitting," organized and circulated by the Museum of Arts & Design, New York, "extreme knitting" artist Althea Crome (Merback) is giving a series of six presentations. She will discuss what led her to knit her tiny designs, which art and artists continue to inspire her work, and what skills and techniques have enabled her to work on such a small scale. She also will bring samples of her work and offer a rare chance to see her demonstrate her knitting. Extra information: Althea Crome (Merback) has been interested in "extreme knitting" for nearly eight years and has transformed what was once a weekend hobby into a very specialized art form. Her work can be seen in museums, books, movies and television, as well as the exhibit "Radical Lace & Subversive Knitting," at the Indiana State Museum through August 24.
