So, this is my weekly what’s happenin’ in Indy blog, but I must admit, for the first time in a LONG time… I’m unplugged.

I’m being kidnapped for several days over the weekend with no phone, no computer, no nada… They tell me it’s for my own good. I guess. sigh

And while I’m coming to terms with losing access to my technology for almost 100 straight hours, I heard about these hot events on the multi-cultural scene over the next few days:

Starting TONIGHT! Wednesday, Feb. 25

Tonight is the finale of Pure Salsa Wednesday Night at The Red Room.

After five years of great dancing, we decided to put an end to the party. DJ Shawn Juan and IntoSalsa want to thank everyone for your support over the years. The Red Room has become one of the favorite places for Salsa dancing in Indianapolis.

The good news is we’re starting a new party on Thursdays at The Red Room. You can expect new music, new guest DJ’s, and longer hours, but the same cover. Stay tuned for more details.

Please come out for the last edition of Pure Salsa as special guest DJ Phlipp will play your favorite Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha-Cha, and of course Salsa!

Details: 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. $5 cover. The Red Room is located at 6335 Guilford Ave. in Broad Ripple

Friday, Feb. 27

Soul. Sessions.

A session for your Soul… It is that time of the month again.

The Soul Session is the only party that people have regularly brought their parents and still had a great time.

Music: James Brown to Jay-Z to J.Dilla. De La Soul to Soul 2 Soul to Fela Kuti. Bob Marley to Bobby Brown to Beanie Man. Sting and the Police to N.W.A. ___the Police…you get the point.

Details: Admission is $5 before 11 p.m.; $10 after 11 p.m. Bring 3 people and get in free! Must have three people accompanying you upon entry. 21 & over with I.D.

For more information, please call 317.698.3378 or e-mail sirdoug@oldsoulent.com.

Sunday, March 1

Re-Lax. Jazz great, Wynton Marsalis, at the Lincoln Center

Round out the weekend with the smooth grooves of jazz great, Wynton Marsalis at the Madame Walker Theatre Center. Marsalis merges rare historic compositions with Jazz at the Lincoln Center-commissioned works including compositions and arrangements by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Thelonious Monk and others.

Details: Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35-55. For more information, please call 317.236.2099.

Whatever you decide to do, have fun, stay safe and do EVERYTHING ***I*** would do. ;-) And if I’ve missed anything, as always, I’ll add it.
