I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom

The Psychic Fair was this weekend. I went, but please don’t tell my mom.
I was raised in one of those families where you didn’t even act like you were gonna “part your lips” to say psychic. LOL!
My mama is so against “that kinda stuff.” My dad? He’s real laid back, but still…
One of my most memorable childhood experiences includes a time when I was about 8. Some friends had come over and we were about to play “Go Fish” with a deck of playing cards in the backyard. I remember noticing my mother peering out the window from the kitchen with squinted eyes like she was asking herself, “what are they doing?”
Next thing I knew, she was running across the yard and diving onto my Fisher Price picnic table in a Superman-type fashion. “Cards are of the Devil!” she screamed. The playing cards flew all over the grass! And she proceeded to collect them and throw them in the garbage. (I swear this happened… Ask Ebony)
Talk about freaked out… My friends STILL tease me about that to this day.
Any.who.
So my BFF, Erin, and I made our way to the Psychic Fair held at the Pyramid of Enlightenment, this weekend. Erin is my only friend who would go with me to such an event… Hehehe. What. An. Experience. All I can say is “wow.”
Because of my upbringing, I’m kinda of a skeptic about these things, but now I’m a BEE-LIEVER. I talked to psychic consultant, Kathleen Martin, first. I purposely tried to be a pretty tough nut to crack. Kathleen told me stuff about my romantic life that had me floored. She NAMED NAMES that I never mentioned! Man, oh man. She was good. Don’t worry babe, she didn’t incriminate you. It was all good.
Then I won a free reading from Libby… LOL!
Libby specializes in Tarot card reading; (DEFINITELY don’t tell my mom this part) and my cards were very positive, for the most part. A stress card was among the first she pulled (Erin had one too), which made sense, because as a new business owner, STRESS is my middle name.
It was a cool experience for only $20. The fair cost us $5 to get in and each reading was $15 for 20 minutes. Would I go again? Definitely.
What’s your experience with psychics?

Hilarious… although I would seriously get a major kick out of seeing a psychic, I feel your pain! There were no playing cards, dice, dominoes or any of the like allowed in my nor my grandmother’s household. I ALWAYS thought this was Hilarious, and I have always been the black sheep in my family. I would leave different colored dice laying around just for kicks… how horrible of me…
I will say this… You now have me thinking of sliding thru a private reading… but I have a feeling it may go a little something like that scene from “Eve’s Bayou” :(
" I dont need no cat bones to read your fortune… YOU ARE A CURSE!"
KEIANNA RAE!!! OMG!! OH NO YOU DID NOT! and…YOU TOO, ERIN!
Just wait until I get back from my meeting CONFERENCE CALL!!! AND… DO NOT push ignore when my call comes in. Expereince?…I got your experience. KRsmom

Too funny!
A note of history: Why I don’t ever play card games and why you don’t find a deck of cards in my home
The first deck of cards was made in 1392 for the insane French King Charles. The inventor evidently hated God and the Bible and designed a message in the cards, which was the exact opposite of the truth of Scripture. This is why it is common to find decks of cards possessed by prostitutes, gamblers, thieves, murders, in taverns, brothels, prisons, insane asylums, gambling dens, etc., but not at a prayer meeting.
The King represents Satan, Prince of darkness, usurper and foe of the Lord Jesus Christ. The ten cards are for the spirit of lawlessness, in opposition to the moral law in the Word of God. Closely associated with the ten cards is the club card. In 1300, clubs were the chief weapons used by murders; therefore this suit represents the Spirit of Murder and death by violence. The jack card represents the lustful libertine, from pimp to adulterer and whoremonger; a moral leper whose chief ambition is to gratify sensual fleshy lusts.
The Queen represents Mary, Mother of Jesus, but in the card language she is called Mother of Harlots. This is a vicious slander attacking the Lord and His Word.
The joker represents Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Joker means fool and therefore Jesus is held up to ridicule. Not only this, but the joker is said to be the offspring of licentious jack and the queen, Mother of Harlots. All of the other cards also have hidden obscene and blasphemous meanings. Nine-tenths of all gambling today is done with these cards. Unfortunately, most people learned to play with them at home.
Witches, Psychics, and Satan worshippers use playing cards for divination and to cast spells and curses. It is a bit difficult to see why any born-again believer would want to be in contact with such a tool of Satan.
It is unwise, even dangerous, to have abominable things in your home (Deuteronomy 7:26). This could bring a curse on you and your household. It is time that Christians clean house and destroy the hidden works of darkness (I John 2:15-17; Romans 12:1, 2; II Corinthians 6:17, 18; I Timothy 6:12).
Drinky_McGee : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
Your mother is correct. If that psychic could really see the future, she would have seen you roasting marshmallows in the Lake of Fire for eternity.
KeiannaRae : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
Oh no, Drinky. Not you, too. Say it ain’t so.
Drinky_McGee : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
Even though you’re damned to H-E-double HELL, I’ll be praying for you.
KeiannaRae : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
DRINKY! I don’t think you’re supposed to damn people to HELL.
lisa_citymouse : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
Sigh, he does it all the time. It’s a complex or something. Maybe one too many Beam and Diet Cokes, I dunno. If I had a dime for every time he’s damned me, well, I’d have a lot of dimes.
Drinky_McGee : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of Drinky.

Hum, when I was in high school I got out a phone book and called any ’ol psychic. Well when someone answered the voice sounded sooo scary, like demonic- for real. I was so freaked out I just hung up and kind of sat there freaked.
Then maybe ten years later, not long ago, I was in a class with a psychic. She didn’t really say anything I didn’t know about my past, just general stuff that anyone could guess about me. Then she read my palm- she looked at the lines in my hands and said I’d lose someone very close to me and would have to make a very hard decision later in life. She said I’d be struck with some serious disease, too. Now, of course I don’t know if that stuff is true or not but what I don’t appreciate is her speaking that stuff into my life. Maybe I’d never be struck with any disease or maybe I wouldn’t have ever lost anyone but now she’s spoken something in the life of Mali that I now have to pray away. Get what I’m saying? It’s all about the spiritual, and we know life and death is in the power of the tongue. I just don’t like how they can say whatever they want about your life… And I’m not sure who is influencing them. So? Go to the source. God can be your ‘psychic’ if you need one.
KR
Psychics and those things out there hold nothing special or secretive. In the Bible you’ll find that there were those who were gifted by God to be special. The most special is the one we call Lord and Savior. Through Christ’s words and teachings you will find the enlightenment that we all seek.
Truthfully, stay with God’s teachings and you’ll find that the “Psychics” are missing out on something greater. A psychic takes his/her ability as being something that they developed, and then they take that and try to make a profit. A profit in fooling people. If they were blessed, that gift was not meant to be used in such a manner.
It’s fascinating when you hear about people with abilities. Or when someone tells you they had a premonition, or a “psychic” episode. Truthfully, there are people that can do amazing things, but they keep to themselves and don’t look to make money or show off.
Listen to your mother and those that only want you to keep you with the faith. If you want to know what the final answer is in learning about psychics, it’s that it has something to with positive and negative energies. And right now the best positive energy is knowing God and listening to His Son.
Here’s my story if you want to understand “psychic” powers:
It was years ago on a Sunday, and my honey and I were visiting homes for sale. At some point I was by myself in the master bedroom of one of the homes. For no reason, I became extremely dizzy. It was a vertigo feeling. I’ve never had that. It was a terrible feeling, but it was like something shifted.
The next day I get a call from my sister-in-law. She tells me that my brother is in the hospital. Days before, my brother complained of pain and fatigue. What was happening to him was pneumonia combined with a hole in his heart. That Sunday, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. The situation was critical. My brother’s lungs and heart became damaged. He was essentially dying at the age of 40.
I stopped everything, and immediately flew to New York City to be with him. He was hooked into things I never saw before. His glassy drugged eyes stared into space. I got real close to his face. I could read his eyes, and I told him, “You’re not dreaming. I really am here.” At which point he raised his eyebrows to signal he comprehended. For the next seven days, I remained at his side. Taking care of him. Reading the Bible to him. Praying. Each day he progressed. On the seventh day, he was back to his old self; swearing at the nurse and not remembering what happened. He was shocked to learn that during his ordeal, I was at his side and I became a friend to his friends.
I can’t take credit. It’s now been five years and he’s alive. Heart and lungs working. I felt him at NYC from here in Indianapolis that Sunday, but only because God’s Will allowed me to know that my brother needed me. And His same Will, allowed me to go to my brother, and most of all- saved my brother’s life. Now do you understand the real truth behind “psychic”? God, Christ, Church, Love, Family, Prayer, et cetera.. this is what matters. This is what saves people and makes you special.
KeiannaRae : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
Well said, Mr. Ease. I respect your comments and position.
I stand by the fact that there were Prophets in the Bible. God gave people gifts, period. Who are we to say someone’s gift of prophesy isn’t from God?
I had a good experience at the Psychic Fair. There was nothing scary or satanic about it. I didn’t ask to know my future… In fact, she only talked about things in my PRESENT.
I’d definitely go again and everyone needs to CALM DOWN!
But thanks for the comments… It’s been an interesting discussion.

I’m someone who tries to stay open-minded about so-called supernatural phenomena. I believe that it’s possible that people have the ability to sense things that aren’t readily apparent, an extrasensory perception, of sorts. But I don’t know if that should be attributed to “special powers.” I think it might be more accurate to say that certain people have heightened awareness and a keen ability to pick up on things that the rest of us don’t and that this allows people to have more insight into the seemingly intangible than others. Also, I know that there are stories of mothers or siblings sensing that a loved one is in danger or dying.
But I usually question those who claim to be able to foretell people’s futures, especially when they’re making money off of them. All you have to do to be a successful psychic is master the art of cold reading, like that jerk, John Edwards.
The Bible makes it clear that these types of experiences should be avoided. We should not exercise any sort of spirtiual abilities outside the realm of what the Bible deems acceptable, nor should we consult with anyone who does so. Those who claim to practice these special revelations/extra-sensory preceptions are either deceivers, self-deceived, and or under the power of demonic forces. Leviticus 19:31 says, “do not rely on mediums and psychics, for you will be defiled by them. I, the Lord, am your God.” Consulting spiritists is foolish and angers the Lord (2Chronicles 33:6). Acting as a medium or psychic was punishable by death in the Old Testament (Leviticus 20:27).
The bible tells us that the Holy Spirit of God has been given to each of us who have received salvation through faith in Christ (Romans 8:9-11). The Spirit will be our guide and teacher of all truth (John 16:13). For Christians, all spiritual leading and communication should come from God, through prayer and revelation from HIS WORD. The only sixth sense, medium or phychic we need is THE HOLY SPIRIT; everything else IS COUNTERFEIT! But if we allow the Spirit to fill and control us (Esphesians 5:18), we will not be led astray by deceiving spirits. You need to repent and ask for forgiveness.
KeiannaRae : RE: I went to a psychic... Please don't tell my mom More..
See why I said, “don’t tell my mom”?!?!? Now I need a shrink instead of a psychic… LOL!
Honestly, people, some activities are meant for entertainment purposes, only. Mom, relax. Drinky, relax.
Everyone, relax.
Re-lax.
Geez.
