Jan. 22: ‘Lost’ on the Web

I don’t just watch TV. If there’s a show worth my time, it’s more than just a show. When an episode is over, I want to read what others say about it. And before it begins, I want to read blogs spilling spoilers and spewing theories about the could-bes, would-bes and ifs of the storylines.

Of course, I’m talking about “Lost.”

The show’s genius can’t possibly be contained to an hour once a week, and the Internet is happily lapping up the overflow of ideas. In my search for the best places to find interesting analyses, theories or just little tidbits (like the name of the Dharma candy bars Hurley is always chowing down), I’ve found three sites I head to regularly during the on-season to get answers.

1. www.thelostdiary.com

I had never been one to read TV live blogs, but Daniel, the guy who runs this site, is hilarious. He’s uncanny with the wit and has built himself into a lovable dude who is part of the show experience for me. Each morning after an episode, you’ll find me struggling to get work done between refreshing the site as I wait for him to post the diary. That usually posts about 10 a.m.

The liveblog began on TMZ, but it seems it got too big for Daniel’s britches — so he started his own site.

2. www.losteastereggs.blogspot.com

Warning: This is the site for the total “Lost” nerd. I’m going just throw it out there and say that I might or might not fit into that category. The blog posts screenshots of everything in any episode the viewer could ever want to see. Simply write the site administrator and say which frame you’re seeking. There are far too many quick flashes of crazy eyes or imaginary guys in cabins in the show, so to have this site freeze frame everything is really necessary. Plus, you get to see that the show’s writers really did think of everything.

3. www.lostpedia.com

This isn’t as fun for the theories and the speculation, but if you have a question about anything that happened on the show or any sort of trivia, it’s on this site. Don’t start checkin’ it out unless you have a lot of time, though. You’ll be reading for hours.
