INDIANAPOLIS — An Indiana man says his son was among the 13 people killed when an Army psychiatrist allegedly opened fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas.

Daniel DeCrow of Fulton, Ind., told The Associated Press that 32-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Justin M. DeCrow died in the Thursday shootings. DeCrow says his son was married to his high school sweetheart and the couple had one daughter.

DeCrow says his son had been stationed at Fort Hood since returning from Korea, and before that he was stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga., where the family had a home. He says his son joined the Army right after finishing high school in Plymouth, Ind.

Relatives of another solider who grew up in Indiana say Lafayette-native Nathan A. Hewitt was injured in the shooting. Uncles Elmo Robledo and Rex Deaton told the Journal&Courier that their nephew’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
