Zionsville had 13 teams among the 33 participating in the Fall VEX Clean Sweep Robotics competition Saturday at Zionsville High School. Two Zionsville teams — Steel Eagle 1, Steel Eagle 16 — and Triton Central came away champions.

Those three teams qualified for the World Championships in Dallas on April 30 to May 2, Wandland said.

Steel Eagle 1 team members were Jacob Ressler, Shane Tang, Joey Frechin, Victoria Griesemer. Steel Eagle 16 members were Michael Glapa, Stephen Dempsey, Daniel Beck, Sakina Zaheer.

Steel Eagle 12 received the sportsmanship award, which was selected by the other teams.

Steel Eagle 12 and another Zionsville team, Steel Eagle 5, qualified for the National Championships from April 2-4 in Omaha, Neb.
