Model and actor Boris Kodjoe, a star of Showtime’s “Soul Food” who appears in “Surrogates” opposite Bruce Willis, will headline the Sixth Annual HIV Statewide Awareness Program on Thursday in Indianapolis.

The event at the Madame Walker Theatre, 617 Indiana Ave., runs from 10 a.m. to noon and is designed to encourage members of minority communities to get tested for HIV and educate themselves about HIV and AIDS.

Other celebrities on the bill include Tasha Jones, a poet, educator and activist who was a nominee for poet laureate of Indiana in 2008, and WHHH-FM (96.3) radio personality JJ, who will be mistress of ceremonies.

Sponsors include the Indiana State Department of Health, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration and the Indiana Minority Health Coalition.

The program is free and open to the public.
