Wayne Township theater group wins 4 awards for '09 season
The Wayne Township Community Theatre won four awards for its 2009 season and will produce an encore performance of one show this month.
The theater group received 27 nominations and won four Encore Awards on Oct. 26 for this season, said Shayla Kenworthy, Wayne Township Education Foundation director of special events and communications.
Award winners include:
*Don Drennen — Best light design of a musical for “Tick, tick….. BOOM!”
*Lauren Butz — Best performer 18 and under in a musical for her role of JoJo in “Seussical: The Musical.”
*Michael Davis — Best male singer for his performance in “Tick, tick….. BOOM!”
*Laura Breece and Jeff Van Paris — Judges Special Award for the Waiter’s Gallop Dance in “Hello, Dolly!”
The entire cast and production team from “Tick, tick…BOOM!” will return to the stage Nov. 20 to 22 for an encore performance to benefit The Arthritis Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Wayne Township Education Foundation.
Shows will be at the Frank and Katrina Basile Theater at the Indiana Historical Society, 450 W. Ohio St.
Shows on Friday and Saturday start at 8 p.m., and the Sunday show is at 6 p.m. The cost is $27 and includes a food and drink reception after the show.

The theater is an all-volunteer organization, and proceeds from shows benefit teachers and students in the Wayne Township Schools.
