A former Pike High School teacher was charged by federal authorities with possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s office said Thursday.

Jason T. Krockenberger, 36, Brownsburg, was arrested in June after pornography was found on his computer, which he had brought a shop for repairs. Krockenberger admitted to Brownsburg police that he had child pornography on his home and laptop computers and that he took his laptop to his classroom so he could watch pornography at school.

The federal charges filed Wednesday allege that on June 10, 2009, Krockenberger owned video files of girls engaged in sex.

Krockenberger faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted. An initial hearing will be scheduled before a U.S. Magistrate Judge.

Kroeckenberger was an earth science teacher at Pike for five years. He taught science for Brownsburg Schools from 2000 to 2004 and also taught in Terre Haute for a year.

Krockenberger was a regular customer at The Computer Shop in Brownsburg and told an employee during an April visit that he thought he was addicted to pornography, according to the Hendricks County prosecutor’s office. He also stated that he told police he is sexually attracted to girls ages 12 to 16.
