A man who was rescued from a Westside fire and revived died early Wednesday.

Michael Sanders, 49, had been in critical condition at Wishard Memorial Hospital since the fire at his house in the 1800 block of North Wilcox Street at 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Sanders had collapsed near the front door. Firefighters began resuscitation after determining he was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Sanders responded after about 10 minutes, fire officials said.

Fire officials think the fire might have started from a space heater.
