A coalition is starting a new program to help those on the brink of becoming homeless in Indianapolis.

Indy Resource Connect from the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention will provide people resources they need to avoid becoming homeless, said Emily Hervey, coalition spokeswoman.

Lafayette Square Mall will host a resource fair from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, 3919 Lafayette Road.

Service providers will help people keep housing and provide additional resources. Information will be provided on community center and trustee office services, credit counseling, employment services, financial education, legal services, medical care, housing resources, Social Security advocacy, substance abuse treatment specialists and veteran services.

Free childcare will be provided.

For more information, contact Hervey at (317) 630-0853 or ehervey@chipindy.org.

IndyGo routes 37 and 38 go to Lafayette Square Mall. For more information, visit www.indygo.net.
