Led by invisible man, city fails to progress

Matthew Tully’s column regarding Mayor Greg Ballard’s “veto” of the smoking ban was dead-on referring to our every man ("Ballard’s veto threat helped kill smoking ban,’’ Oct. 28).

Smoking kills an estimated 443,000 Americans a year and another 50,000 by secondhand smoke. I suggest the mayor spend 15 minutes in a smoky bar at 10 p.m. and then see what his clothes smell like after.

It would be nice to think of Indianapolis as a progressive city. I think Mayor Ballard has become the invisible man.
