For the second straight year, Zionsville seniors Joe Hammond and Nick Laconi won the doubles championship in the individual state tournament, this time beating Brebeuf Jesuit’s Charlie Hurst and Chris Plump 7-5, 6-4 last Saturday at Park Tudor.

Hammond, on his career: “It’s good to know that we kind of go down as the best tennis players to come out of Zionsville. And it’s just great. I’m humble about it, and I loved every minute of my four-year career.”

Laconi: “It couldn’t have been any better.”
