FISHERS — An alternative zoning plan for rural land in Fall Creek Township will go back to the Advisory Plan Commission on Monday.

The Plan Commission has been reviewing the zoning plan since September.

Commission members have focused on clarifying language in the plan, which allows Fall Creek landowners with 5 acres or more to “opt in” to more rural zoning.

“I think we’re all trying to be reasonable and flexible but we don’t want to have something unforeseeen in the future so we’re trying to tighten it up a little bit more,” Art Levine, a Town Councilman and Plan Commission member, said after the Plan Commission’s October meeting.

The plan, for which about 230 landowners would qualify, would allow people with 10 acres or more to use their land for agricultural activities.

People with 5 acres or more could use their land for limited agricultural purposes.

Agricultural uses aren’t permitted in the area’s current zoning.

The Town Council will have the final say on the plan if the Plan Commission approves it.

The Plan Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Fishers Town Hall, 1 Municipal Drive.
