NOBLESVILLE — After receiving an anonymous tip, a Noblesville Intermediate student was caught with knives in school.

District spokeswoman Sharon Trisler said the student had the knives in his backpack and did not show them to anyone or threaten anyone. It’s unclear what day this week this happened, and Trisler declined to name the student.

She said the knives were left over from a weekend activity with family members.

She said the district’s policy on disciplinary action in such a matter has been enforced, but refused to give details.

“That information is a part of the student’s educational record and is protected by the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act,” she said in an e-mail.

Noblesville Police Capt. Brad Arnold said the department was not involved in the incident, and did not expect any charges to be filed.
