It's Riley time
Thousands descended on Greenfield for the 40th annual Riley Festival.
Despite forecasts of rain, Mother Nature favored the festival-goers by mostly confining the showers to the overnight hours. Most days of the Oct. 1-4 event featured a crisp autumn climate that seemed just right for a fall celebration.
The Saturday parade took a political turn: marchers included three Republicans challenging U.S. Rep. Dan Burton in next year’s May congressional primary — Brose McVey, Luke Messer and Mike Murphy. Burton was also represented in the parade but did not attend in person.
Hancock County Republican Chairman Michael Griffin marched as a candidate for county prosecutor despite the fact the incumbent, Dean Dobbins, is also a Republican.
