A federal grand jury in Indianapolis has indicted two men on charges that they illegally accessed their former employer’s computer system for financial gain.

Forty-five-year-old Scott R. Burgess of Jasper, Ind., and 39-year-old Walter D. Puckett of Williamstown, Ky., were indicted Wednesday. Both face felony charges of computer intrusion.

The indictment alleges that the men used the Internet to access sensitive data from Jasper-based Stens Corp.’s computer system after going to work for a business competitor. Their employer denies knowledge of their actions.

The men’s attorneys didn’t immediately return phone calls seeking comment.

The U.S. attorney’s office says the men could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
