'A Flea in Her Ear' opens Thursday at Carmel High School
Carmel High School’s upcoming production of “A Flea in Her Ear” not only demands acting talent but a degree of athleticism.
“It’s been a while since I’ve done a farce so it’s been interesting trying to get to the style and run the kids through the paces,” said Director Jim Peterson. “We’ve done a lot of tag and play different games to get them loose and get their stamina up to be running around.”
Peterson said a lot of entering and exiting the stage takes split-second timing.
“A lot of it is running and chasing,” Peterson said. “There is a lot of funny stage combat, nothing serious. There’s a lot of slapstick.”
The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13 and Nov. 14 in the Carmel High School Studio Theatre, which seats about 200. The school is at 520 E. Main St.
In addition, there is a 2 p.m. show Nov. 14.
Tickets are $7.
“The set is huge. We’ve got five doors in Act 1, and 10 doors in Act 2. It’s quite an ambitious set,” Peterson said.
There are 15 cast members. Matthew Hook, Bethany Arrington, Karaline Feller and Marko Gruber play the four lead characters.
Tickets are available at http://ccs.tix.com or the high school bookstore.
